401(k) employer matching and vesting
Measure the employer match captured by your contribution and the part currently vested under your plan. Enter your applicable compensation and deferral limit.
Your inputs
Start with the example values, then replace them with your own. For tables, keep the vertical bar separators and use a dot for decimals.
Illustrative inputs are not certified current rates or an entitlement decision. Confirm the country, year, eligibility and contract. This limited model is not a tax return, payroll service or financial/legal advice. Do not act on it without verifying the applicable rules.
Tool inputs are processed in your browser and are not submitted by this tool. Existing site analytics and advertising services have their own privacy terms.

How it works
Employee deferral is capped at the entered limit. Match = match percentage × the smaller of deferral and eligible matching compensation. Vesting applies only to the employer share. This annual model omits per-paycheck restrictions, true-ups, catch-up eligibility and combined employer limits.
Worked example
These sample results use the original example inputs in the form. They do not change when you edit your inputs; your own result appears in the workspace.
- Employee contribution: 4800
- Employer match: 1800
- Vested employer match: 1080
- Total contribution: 6600
Read the result carefully
Results depend on the values and assumptions shown above. Change one input at a time to see its effect. A blank or unavailable result means the data does not support a calculation; it is not zero.
