Transpose notes and choose a capo
Move a sequence of pitch names into another key and inspect the fret-zero shapes needed with a capo.
Your inputs
Start with the example values, then replace them with your own. For tables, keep the vertical bar separators and use a dot for decimals.

How it works
Pitch classes are mapped to 0–11 and shifted modulo 12. Capo shapes subtract the capo fret from the desired sounding notes. Output uses sharps; rhythm, chord quality and octave are not inferred.
Worked example
These sample results use the original example inputs in the form. They do not change when you edit your inputs; your own result appears in the workspace.
| Input note | Sounding note | Capo shape |
|---|---|---|
| C | D | C |
| D | E | D |
| E | F# | E |
| F | G | F |
Read the result carefully
Results depend on the values and assumptions shown above. Change one input at a time to see its effect. A blank or unavailable result means the data does not support a calculation; it is not zero.
