Sixty-pair stem and branch cycle
Explore the repeating sixty-pair cycle from its 1984 Jia-Zi reference. This year table does not assign a birth-date pillar.
Your inputs
Start with the example values, then replace them with your own. For tables, keep the vertical bar separators and use a dot for decimals.
Calendar conventions can differ. This civil-date conversion does not determine legal deadlines or religious observance; verify those separately.

How it works
Pair ten stems with twelve branches in order using the year offset modulo 60, and display Chinese characters with romanization. Gregorian reference years name the cycle only; dates near Lunar New Year or Start of Spring require the separate boundary tool.
Worked example
These sample results use the original example inputs in the form. They do not change when you edit your inputs; your own result appears in the workspace.
| Cycle reference year | Position in sixty-pair cycle | Stem and branch |
|---|---|---|
| 1984 | 1 | 甲子 (Jia Zi) |
| 1985 | 2 | 乙丑 (Yi Chou) |
| 1986 | 3 | 丙寅 (Bing Yin) |
| 1987 | 4 | 丁卯 (Ding Mao) |
Read the result carefully
Results depend on the values and assumptions shown above. Change one input at a time to see its effect. A blank or unavailable result means the data does not support a calculation; it is not zero.
